Tired of Myself

Volume 1, No. 9

Cheers to a new weekend, beautiful people! Let's make it one for the history books.

Anybody out there like me who is tired of hearing your own self say you are going to (fill in the blank)? Recently it is me saying that I am going to release weight and become healthy from the inside out. I am wanting to work better on my business. I will not be going back to corporate America. Instead of blaming it on age and my thyroid, I am taking responsibility. I decided that I have had enough of being tired no matter how much I sleep. Instead of focusing on what to take away, I have been focusing on adding more of the good. As I add more, the bad is slowly leaving because there is no more room for it

What’s something you can add that will improve the quality of your life?

HIDDEN HERSTORIES:

Dr. Eliza Ann Grier (1864-1902): First African American woman licensed to practice medicine in Georgia.

Here are three relevant facts about Dr. Eliza Grier:

  1. Eliza Ann Grier was an emancipated slave. She completed a degree in education from Fisk University in 1891. It took her over eight years to complete because she alternated between years of schooling and years of working—picking cotton and taking on other jobs—to finance her tuition.

  2. Eliza reached out to the Dean of the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania requesting information about pursuing advanced medical education.  Grier believed that becoming a medical doctor would benefit her race more than as a teacher. The College admitted her but did not provide any financial assistance, prompting her to revert to her previous strategy, alternately working and studying for eight years until she completed her medical degree.

  3. Tragically, after struggling for eight years to become a physician, Dr. Eliza Ann Grier died in 1902 at the age of 38 after only five years of medical practice.

“If you aren’t intentional with your time, you default is procrastination.” — Alicia Thomas

I normally say this in reference to business. I am now applying it to my health. Share this quote with someone who needs it.

For the next two weeks, practice 3-2-1 before bed time: Three hours before — stop eating and no alcohol; Two hours before — no more liquids or work and; One hour before — no screen time.
