Volume 1, No. 24

Congrats!!!

You and I have made it to Friday. How is your week going?

Mine has been pretty productive so far. I’ve planned out my tasks to create a calendar for 2025. I have even started the first draft of the run of show for my upcoming podcast, Knowledge Gumbo.

WELLNESS WISDOM

I am working on building on the 75 HARD challenge. I have signed up for two challenges back to back. The first is 5/2 challenge which consists of 5 days of water fasting and two days of eating. This one started on Monday with this being the transition week. This goes on until September 8th. On September 9th, I will be doing the 30 day detox by Dr. Bobby Price. If you are interested in joining me (no affiliation), the deadline is August 19th.

The reason I decided to the detox after learning the difference between cleansing and detoxing. Cleansing focuses on what you put into your body, while detoxing is about eliminating harmful toxins. Cleansing can be beneficial but works at a surface level, while detoxing goes deeper to remove accumulated waste and toxins. Detoxing is essential due to the high number of chemicals in modern food and the environment, which contribute to diseases like autoimmune disorders, diabetes, and hypertension.

Cleansing should be integrated into a daily lifestyle, while detoxing is recommended as a maintenance plan, done periodically (2-4 times a year) to restore the function of detoxifying organs like the liver, kidneys, and skin.

HEALTH HAVEN

Ladies, let’s have a little heart-to-heart: Why set health boundaries? Because your body isn’t a machine, and you’re not obligated to be “on” for everyone all the time. You’ve spent years taking care of everybody else, but who’s taking care of you? Now’s the time to prioritize you!

Here’s an uncommon tip: Treat your personal time like an appointment with someone important—Michelle Obama, maybe? Schedule it, protect it, and don’t let anyone take it away! You deserve that space.

Another thing? Start practicing the fine art of saying “no” without guilt. When you say “yes” to everyone else, you end up saying “no” to your health, your peace of mind, and your joy. No is a complete sentence and requires no explanation. And let’s be honest, that’s just not sustainable.

Lastly, prioritize rest like it’s a paycheck. Your well-being matters as much as anyone else’s. Remember, sis: Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential for survival and thriving!
